A GILT-BRONZE BUST OF THE KURFURST MAX EMANUEL OF BAVARIA by Guillaume de Groff , circa 1714, ON A LOUIS XIV BRASS-INLAID KINGWOOD PEDESTAL, the Elector shown with tightly curled hair looking to sinister, in full imbricated ceremonial armour with lions rampant, on a ring-turned spreading circular socle, the Louis XIV brass-inlaid kingwood pedestal of spreading concave-sided form inlaid en contre- partie , the canted downswept angles inlaid with bell-husks and foliate trails, the central panels inlaid with entwined C-scrolls above a foliate lambrequin spray and scrolled acanthus boss, on gilt-bronze scrolling foliate claw-monopodia, the socle signed G. de Grof. F. , the bust of the Elector lacking the Collar and Order of the Golden Fleece, the pedestal lacking the upper moulding 16¾in. (42.5cm.) high, overall; 9½in. (24cm.) wide
