A GOLD-LACQUERED AIKUCHI TANTO Meiji Period (late 19th century) The fine gold migakiji scabbard and hilt with delicate scrolling tendrils depicted in fine takamaki-e at the extremities, fully matching solid silver mounts with applied roundels of silver-wired brightly coloured cloisonné floral motifs in Art Nouveau style, and with shell and other coloured inlay of rhomboids forming the menuki , the dress blade engraved with dragon and flowering plum bough 36.4 cm. long overall
