Hunt 136/Sge: By: R.G.A.) very fine £400-£500 A Great War ‘1918’ D.C.M. awarded to Battery Sergeant Major J. Hunt Royal Garrison Artillery Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (32897 B.S. Mjr: J. Hunt 136/Sge: By: R.G.A.) very fine £400-£500 D.C.M. London Gazette 17 April 1918: ‘For conspicuous gallantry, devotion to duty, and consistent good work during a long period. On several occasions, when a section of the battery has been shelled, he at once proceeded to the position in order to encourage the detachments by his presence and example.’ James Hunt was a native of Higher Broughton, Manchester. He served during the Great War with the Royal Garrison Artillery in the French theatre of war from 22 September 1914.
