A GREEN PATINATED BRONZE AND SLATE SUNDIAL, by Elliott, London, the square stepped slate dial signed ELLIOTT BROTHERS, 5 CHARING CROSS, LONDON and dated 1856, carved with the points of the compass and marked for LAT 51.°6' N - LONG 0.°17' E , the equation of time and the outer ring with the chapters, the centre with bronze gnomon, on circular bronze plinth with stiff leaf moulding above a flower guilloche band, supported by three partially naked maidens, after Canova, standing with their backs to each other, one holding a sheath of corn, the others supporting their drapery, on a naturalistic circular base and square stone plinth with canted corners, mid-19th century the dial: 18in.
