A group of African art 20th century From an Hampstead Estate A heterogeneous group of wooden objects, comprising of one standing Baoule female figure (blolo bla) carved from a single piece of wood, the head of typical oval shape with small mouth, elongated nose, half-moon shaped eyes and characteristic scarification signs, the hair styled in elaborate braids, the body cylindrical, the breasts pointed, the arms joined to the body, the hands resting on the umbilical area, the legs flexed, the feet tilted towards the center, the back straight, the buttocks low, coated in a dark-brown patina, 35cm high; one standing male figure (blolo bian) carved from a single piece of wood in the style of the Baoule people, the head of typical oval shape, the hair combed to the back of the head, geometric patterns of scarification to the sides of the head, the mouth and over the brow, the arms resting to the sides of the body, the umbilical zone and the sex neatly marked, the knees slightly flexed, the feet parallel to the body, coated in a dark patina, on a squared wooden and metal base, 38cm high; one wooden mask carved in the style of the Lega people, of oval shape, the forehead decorated with circular patterns, the brow ridge arched, the mouth rectangular, the nose large, the chin with three holes for the raffia fibers, the back flat and straight, mounted on a metal stand,14 cm; one mask carved in Dan style, the forehead smooth, the eyebrows marked, the eyes narrow, the mouth slightly open, the teeth showing, the sides of the head with decorative rectangular bands, the exterior coated in a dark patina, holes for the raffia fibers all around the rim, mounted on a metal stand, 24cm high; one African mask, of pointed shape, the brow smooth and rounded, the eyebrows arched, the eyes narrow, the nose geometrical, the ears with holes, the mouth of hexagonal shape and showing teeth, holes for the raffia fibers running all around the rim, mounted on a metal stand, 21cm.
