Property from a European Private Collection, Lots 530-544. A group of five archaic jade fish and amphibian carvings Western Zhou Dynasty and later Comprising: three 'fish' pendants, the first of creamy jade, thinly incised to either side with well-defined circular eyes, curved gills, dorsal and fins; the second plain, carved from greyish-green stone, with incised gills, dorsal and fins, a tiny pierced hole at the mouth, box; the third a small plain black jade fish, of rounded form; a small yellow/russet jade pendant in the form of an amphibian, with delicately incised details; and a reticulated green jade semi-circular pendant in the form of a double-headed mythical beast. The largest: 12.2cm (4 7/8in) wide (5). Fußnoten Provenance: according to the collector's notes, The creamy jade fish pendant and the amphibian pendant acquired at Rare Art, New York, circa 1972. The grey/green jade fish acquired from Schulman Coin & Mint, Inc., New York, The Howard D. Gibbs Estate, Part VI: Chinese Jade And The Orient March 20, 21, 1972, lot no. 240.
