A group of five medals relating to the career of Joe Donnachie player/manager of Chester FC, a 9ct. gold & enamel Cheshire County F.A. winner's medal 1921-22; a silver-gilt & enamel Chester & Runcorn F.A. Amateur Cup winner's medal 1935-36; a silver & enamel Chester & Runcorn F.A. Amateur Cup runners-up medal 1934-35; a gold-mounted silver Chester Football League winner's medal 1933-34; & a silver-gilt Chester League Division A winner's medal 1934-35 Joseph Donnachie was born at Kilwinning, Ayrshire, in 1885. He began his career in Scottish football playing for Rutherglen, Albion Rovers and Morton before transferring to Newcastle United in June 1905, where he made just two appearances. Everton bought him the following season and he played 41 times for the Toffees until 1908-09 when he transferred to Oldham and played his football there until the outbreak of the First World War, winning three Scotland international caps along the way. After brief spells at Rangers, back at Everton & Blackpool he joined Chester City as player manager in 1921. The medals in this lot relate to his time at Chester.
