A hand scrivened and illuminated vellum grant of arms dated 22nd July 1869, to Richard Marchant Hackett of Jury Ward, City of London and to his ... sisters, Emma and Matilda Hackett. Arms of the grantees top left, with those of the Sovereign, flanked by those of the Duke of Norfolk as Earl Marshal and Garter King of Arms. Signed by Sir Charles Young, FSA, Garter (in office 1842-1869, died 1869) and Roberrt Laurie, Clarenceux (in office 1859-1882, d. 1882), Lettering faded, armorials bright & clear, two seals, 63.5cm x 58.5cm, framed By patent bearing the same date (22 July 1869) arms were also granted to Elisha Hackett of Yapton. Sussex formerly of Adelaide, South Australia, merchant, son of Champion Hackett late of , Chichester, Sussex. Richard Merchant Hackett was the elder half brother, and was a wholesale upholsterer of 38, Jewry St., Aldgate, City of London and who lived at 12, Dingwall Road, Croydon, Surrey and died 6th November 1887.
