A Japanese carved marine ivory netsuke, Meiji Period, late 19th century in the form of a shishi, unsigned together with a painted Persian miniature on ivory depicting a scene outside the city gates, Iran, the reverse signed in pencil and possibly by Hossein Behzad (1894-1964) netsuke 3cm. high; 1in. and plaque 11cm. by 8.3cm.; 4¼in. by 3¼in.
