rectangular with cut corners, the lid later applied with a rose-cut diamond-set inscription reading: gage d'amitié within gold paillon scrollwork and tassel frame, on translucent blue enamel over wavy engine-turning, within gold and metallic blue paillon border of double fan-shaped ornaments alternating with stylised quatrefoils, flanked by fine opaque white enamel bands, the side panels enamelled in dark blue, the angles decorated with gold paillon flower vases, the base similarly decorated with sun-ray engine-turning to the central panel, maker's mark R incuse within sun dials, in a modern wood case _______________________________________________________________
