1938, pen and ink and pastels, the drawing depicts the old wizard with an elongated nose, black hollowed eyes, full bushy beard and eyebrows, and a small tuft of hair on the top; the drawing is glued at the corners to another piece of animation paper, glue staining upper left corner, matted and framed. Nigel De Brulier, the silent movie star, was dressed in a full beard with long robes and photographed in live-action as a reference point for Tylta while he was animating the character. The pastel is illustrated in John Canemaker’s book Before the Animation Begins on page 61. 10 x 12in
