A LARGE DUTCH OR GERMAN SILVER POMANDER APPARENTLY UNMARKED, LAST HALF 17TH CENTURY Globular, the sides engraved with two portrait busts within medallions and with a further medallion engraved with a galleon at sail, all surrounded by fruiting foliage, with an overhead ring handle and a spreading foot, opens to reveal six compartments, the cover of each engraved with the name of a different scent, the base detaches to reveal an integral spoon 3 1/8 in. (7.9 cm.) high 4 oz. (130 gr.)
