A large pair of linen-backed, wall-hanging Italian schoolroom hemisphere maps Of the EMISFERO ORINIENTALE and EMISFERO OCCIDENTALE , both labelled MILANO dal Dott e Francesco Vallardi TIPOGRFO EDITTORE ed in ROMA, NAPOLI e PALERMO presso le sue Case filiali , the Eastern hemisphere map dated 1873 , the equatorial and circumference graduated in degrees, the oceans with islands shown with details of their discovery, the track of Columbus' 1492 voyage to America, small portions of Antarctic coastline and packice shown with dates and information relating to sightings and landings, New Zealand labelled in Maori I. Ika-Na-Mauni (North Island) and I. Tava-Pounammou (South Island), the whole marked NUOVA ZELANDA O TASMANIA (Scop: da Tasman nel 1642) , the continents with nation states variously coloured in outline and showing mountain ranges, rivers, cities, American Indian tribes and other details, each with split dowel clamp ( recent replacements ) to top and bottom 217.8cm. square each (2)
