A LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED TULIPWOOD, STAINED SYCAMORE, AMARANTH, FRUITWOOD MARQUETRY AND PARQUETRY SECRETAIRE-A-ABATTANT BY ROGER VAN DER CRUSE ('RVLC'), DIT LACROIX, CIRCA 1758-60, PROBABLY SUPPLIED BY THE MARCHAND-EBENISTE LEONARD BOUDIN Decorated overall with Chinoiserie scenes depicting figures and pagodas amidst exotic foliage and birds, within scrolling foliate reserves, the serpentine-fronted brèche d'Alep marble top above a shaped fall-front enclosing with gilt-tooled green leather-lined writing surface to the reverse, enclosing a fitted interior with a tambour shutter centred with a floral spray and enclosing a blue moiré silk-lined interior, above four mahogany-lined drawers with floret-inset trellis motifs, one with later inkwell and sander, above two wells, the lower section with a pair of cupboard doors enclosing three graduated drawers with floral-inset lozenge motifs, the lower drawer fitted with a coffre-fort , the angles headed by floral-entwined shell and foliate-cast chutes , the shaped sides decorated with floral sprays within foliate reserves, above a pierced foliate apron, on short cabriole legs with scrolled sabots, stamped ' R.V.L.C .' and ' JME ’, with paper label inscribed in ink ' Mr Gaignoeux ’, and two further paper labels reading ' 43 ’ and ' 7064 ’ 44 ¾ in. (113.5 cm.) high; 28 ¾ in. (73 cm.) wide; 15 in. (38 cm.) deep
