A LOUIS XVI ENAMELLED GOLD BONBONNIERE BY NICOLAS MARGUERIT (FL. 1763-1790), MARKED, PARIS, 1782/1783, WITH THE SECOND CHARGE AND DECHARGE MARKS OF HENRY CLAVEL 1782-1789, LATER STRUCK WITH TWO FRENCH GUARANTEE MARKS FOR PARIS 1809-1819 AND WITH TWO FRENCH IMPORT MARKS FOR GOLD 1864-1893 circular box, the detachable cover, sides and base with panels of translucent electric-blue enamel on an engine-turned vermiculé ground, the cover centred with an applied vari-colour gold circular plaque chased with a floral spray on a sablé ground, within twisted rope and leaf matted gold borders 2 15/16 in. (75 mm.) diam.
