A LOUIS XVI ORMOLU AND SEVRES PORCELAIN-MOUNTED SYCAMORE TABLE EN CHIFFONNIERE Circa 1784, stamped twice A. Weisweiler and almost certainly supplied by the marchand-mercier Dominique Daguerre The circular top with pierced gallery inset with a circular soft-paste porcelain plaque painted with scattered roses and bellflowers within a border of pearls, above a frieze inset with panels of two-tone ormolu backed with scarlet leather and cast with flowerheads and rosettes within a pearled border, on four canted, mille-raies panelled uprights joined by a shaped undertier with matching soft-paste porcelain plaque and with pierced gallery, on cabriole legs headed with fruiting foliage, terminating in lion's paw sabots with casters, minor chips to edge of porcelain plaque of top, indistinctly stamped A. WEIS..ILER and also A... in the drawer, with further indistinct handwritten paper label A....OO..? , the larger plaque with gilt-painted Svres interlaced L-mark, date letter 'GG' for 1784, and painter's mark V. d. for the painter and gilder Vand fils with further ink inscription '120', the lower plaque faintly inscribed 'M' 29in.
