A LOUIS XVI ORMOLU-MOUNTED AND PEWTER-INLAID EBONY CENTRE TABLE CIRCA 1785, COMISSIONED BY THE MARCHAND-MERCIER DOMINIQUE DAGUERRE AND ATTRIBUTED TO ADAM WEISWEILER The rectangular specimen spinach granite ( granit d'hellespont ) top above a bollection moulded frieze with gadrooned border with berried husk decoration and pearled ribbon-twists, on octagonal tapering legs inlaid with simulated pewter flutes and with octagonal moulded capitals, joined by a pierced interlaced stretcher with central roundel, on turned tapering toupie feet with engine-turned and pearled collars and mille-raies blocks, on tapering ball feet, with handwritten label 'R D', label to the underside of the marble 'Chenue French packer' and indistinctly inscribed in pencil '..ttler', possibly with erased stamp to underside of one end frieze 34¼ in. (87 cm.) high; 32¼ in. (82 cm.) wide; 16¾ in. (42.5 cm.) deep
