A MASSIVE SANCAI-GLAZED POTTERY FEREGHAN HORSE TANG DYNASTY Modeled standing foursquare on a rectangular slab base, the steed covered in a rich amber glaze dribbling onto the hoofs and burnt a darker caramel in areas, the head slightly turned to the left, its blaze, striated forelock, mane and dressed tail splashed with a straw glaze, its ears pricked up, eyes bulging, nostrils flared and mouth open to show its teeth, the brown-glazed bridle molded with small green-glazed appliques, medallion cheek pieces and shaped headband, the evenly green-glazed saddle with amber-glazed borders, the body trappings also brown with molded green appliques and suspending green-glazed molded 'apricot leaf'-shaped fittings, the green on the body fittings streaking into the amber glaze, some restoration--27½in.
