A massive wooden panel with Ganesh, Lakshmi and Saraswati, South Indian, 19th century AD. A massive rectangular wooden panel deeply carved with three registers. That to the centre with Ganesh dancing within a central shrine, dome shaped canopy to the top; in his four hands a goad, lotus flower, conch and snake, small rat to the side. To the right hand side the goddess Lakshmi dancing, dome shaped canopy to the top, holding a lotus flower in each of the upper hands, the lower hands in abhya and varadha mudras, small figure to the side with hands held in prayer. To the left hand side the goddess Saraswati, dome shaped canopy to the top, danding, playing a veena in the lower hands, the upper hands holding a rosary and copy of the Vedas, swan to the side. Double columns between the shrines with danding figures between each of the columns. The upper register with shikara towers to each of the shrines, between each, Shiva with hair flying out, holding a drum, gazelle, snake and lotus flower, hands in abhya and vardha mudra, to the left, the goddess Durga, holding a trident and noose, hands in the abhya and varadha mudra. To the left of Durga a male apsara seated on a peacock, holding a chowri fly whisk and mace; to the right of Shiva a female apsara, seated on a peacock holding a chowri fly whisk and mace. To the bottom a group of three lotus flower bases supporting the columns above; between, a pair of dwarves with hands raised supporting the platform. The whole framed by lotus flower petals.
