A MEISSEN CHINOISERIE CREAM-POT AND COVER CIRCA 1725, GILDER'S NUMERAL 3. TO BOTH Of bombé form, painted by J.G. Höroldt with a seated figure offering a teabowl to a standing figure holding a cloth filled with fruit, among flowers between a steaming kettle and smoking censer, within a gilt shaped quatrefoil cartouche below scroll enclosing Böttger -lustre panels issuing iron-red and lustre scrolls, between two vignettes of birds among flowers in the Kakiemon style, with a scroll handle and three paw feet, the shallow domed cover with a spreading conical finial flanked by vignettes of seated Oriental figures (pot with two patches of wear to gilt rim and several minute areas of wear to gilding on cartouche, some slight scratching, cover with small and minute chip and slight remains of old restoration, area of flaking to gilt rim and to enamels, the finial restuck) 4¾ in. (12 cm.) high
