A Meissen chinoiserie shallow circular écuelle and cover Circa 1724, blue crossed swords mark within two blue concentric circles Painted by J.G. Höroldt with Orientals on terraces, the bowl with a barking spaniel before a seated figure with a hoop of squirrels, a mythical beast with leafy ears and an Oriental among flowering shrubs, a fence surmounted by vases to the right, the reverse with a seated figure taking tea with an attendant holding a fan, before a pedestal and fence with smoking vases, each within elaborate gilt quatrefoil cartouches with Böttger -lustre panels edged with gilt scrolls and iron-red scrolling foliage, flanked by indianische Blumen above a gilt footrim, the gilt ball finial of the cover flanked by indianische Blumen and two similar cartouches, one with an Oriental dancing with cymbals between two figures outside a pavilion, the other with two figures, one with a parasol, the other with a fan and holding the reins of a horse with kettle-drums on its back, within a gilt band rim 6 in. (15.3 cm.) diam.
