A MEISSEN GILT-METAL MOUNTED CHINOISERIE CLOCK CIRCA 1728-30, THE CONTEMPORARY GILT-BRASS MOVEMENT SIGNED L. Lehnert :· Budissin :· Modelled by Gottlieb Kirchner , with a flat back, spreading sides and concave front, the canted corners with scrolls above and below supporting seated putti and female figures, surmounted by a female figure of Time seated on a gilt-tiled pagoda roof above a band of tasselled gilt lambrequins , the front with a large suspended gilt-edged drape with scalloped medallions, the centre mounted with a white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, outer Arabic five minute divisions and blued steel beetle poker hands, the frosted gilt chain fusee movement with verge escapement and pierced balanced cock, in a circular hinged tasselled mount, the concave lower part painted by J.G. Höroldt with two vignettes of Orientals, the sides with elongated fielded panels painted with Orientals above small chinoiserie vignettes on gilt scroll supports, the back with a rectangular aperture and hinge recesses (door lacking, broken through roof and sides and restuck, with some areas of restoration along breaks, all figures with associated damages and repairs, some areas of wear to gilding) 12 7/8 in. (32.8 cm.) high
