CIRCA 1725, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK AT BACK
A MEISSEN LARGE PAGODA FIGURE CIRCA 1725, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK AT BACK Probably modelled by Georg Fritzsche , seated on a throne facing forwards with a moustache, pointed beard and side whiskers, holding an acanthus leaf enriched with gilding, wearing an iron-red, purple and gilt patterned and striped headdress with simulated jewels to the front and a long robe enamelled with exotic Oriental style foliage scrolls, diaper-panels and flowers, the neck, chest and waist with an iron-red and gilt flowerhead border, a jewelled stomacher over his bare stomach, white pantaloons and black shoes on an octagonal stepped base enriched with gilt lines and a band of gilt scrollwork (restoration to neck, beard and one side whisker, surface cracking, slight chip to acanthus leaf and at back, slight wear to gilding) 8 7/8 in. (22.5 cm.) high
