A MEISSEN PURPLE-GROUND CHINOISERIE CREAM-POT, COVER AND STAND CIRCA 1728-32, PUCE ENAMEL CROSSED SWORDS MARK TO POT, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK TO STAND, GILDER'S 3. X MARK TO POT INTERIOR AND STAND Of squat bombé form on three paw feet, the scroll handle with a gilt band and scroll thumbpiece, the body reserved with three panels painted by C.F. Herold with Orientals within ogival elongated quatrefoil gilt band cartouches, below an everted gilt band rim, the shallow-domed cover and stand similarly decorated, with a gilt knop finial, the stand centred by a lobed panel with indianische Blumen , the underside with three sprays and a Laub-und-Bandelwerk border (very slight wear to ground of pot and cover, minute chip to each foot, slight wear to gilt rim, cover with restored rim chip, stand with chip to underside of rim, areas of wear to ground, very slight wear to scenes, footrim with large flake to gilding) 4¾ in. (11.9 cm.) high, the stand 7½ in. (19 cm.) diam.
