A Meissen Royal silver-gilt-mounted chinoiserie ewer ( schnabelkanne ) Circa 1725, the hinged silver-gilt cover with Augsburg town mark and maker's mark EA for Elias Adam With a large scroll handle and pointed spout, painted by J.G. Höroldt , the cylindrical body with a continuous scene of Orientals at various pursuits including playing musical instruments, brewing tea and smoking on a terrace with flowering shrubs, ornamental grasses, vases and insects in flight above, a heron at the end of the terrace, the slender tapering neck with iron-red birds and insects in flight between two broad bands of elaborate gitterwerk , the lower band incorporating vine leaves and the Royal monogram FAR within an oval cartouche below the spout, the circular spreading foot with a broad gilt band, the silver-gilt mounts engraved with strapwork and husks, the hinged cover with bud finial and mermaid thumbpiece (small shallow chip to edge of rim near handle, areas of slight wear to gilding of handle, upper rim and line border at shoulder) 9¾ in. (24.7 cm.) high overall
