A MEISSEN SILVER-GILT-MOUNTED BALUSTER COFFEE-POT AND COVER CIRCA 1725, THE MOUNTS AUGSBURG Painted by J.G. Höroldt , one side with a bowing Oriental through the parted curtains of an elaborate pavilion, two Orientals before him, an elaborate fence behind with flowering shrubs in jardinières, the other side with three Orientals on a terrace with shrubs and a palm tree, two of them by a blazing stove, within elongated gilt quatrefoil cartouches with Böttger -lustre panels edged with gilt, red and puce scrolls, divided at the sides by bouquets of indianische Blumen , below a gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk border, the S-scroll handle with pendant gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk , the spout richly gilt, the domed cover with a gilt knop finial above beasts and Orientals on a terrace supported by a double concentric red border, the hinged mount moulded and chased with lappets (cartouches with areas of minute wear, one with very small area of wear, minute frit to spout, part of finial lacking) 9 1/8 in. (23.3 cm.) high
