A MEISSEN YELLOW-GROUND CHINOISERIE CREAM-JUG AND STAND with pinched lip and scroll handle painted in the manner of Johann Gregor Höroldt with an Oriental pointing a pipe at birds on a perch, the reverse with two figures worshipping a demon on an altar and by shrubs within gilt quatrefoil cartouches, the interior with a purpurmalerei roundel of flowers, the saucer with an Oriental standing beside a steaming kettle on an altar with an attendant serving him tea beside a two tier stand within a purple, iron-red and gilt scroll and Böttger lustre cartouche within gilt C-scroll and flowerhead borders (minute restoration to lip and to rim of cream-jug), blue crossed swords marks, Dreher's quartered circle to both pieces, circa 1730 the stand 13.7cm. diam.
