A NORTH ITALIAN PARCEL-GILT, PALE BLUE AND GRISAILLE-DECORATED COMMODE PIEDMONT, THIRD QUARTER 18TH CENTURY The serpentine-fronted grey-veined marble top with moulded edge above two drawers decorated sans traverse with a cartouche-shaped panel, depicting a chinoiserie scene with magicians before a pagoda amidst trees, within a ribbon-tied and foliate-carved surround, above a cabochon-carved apron, the sides decorated with similarly-bordered Chinoiserie scenes, on foliate-headed splayed legs, previously with handles and with some subsequent redecoration 39½ in.
