A Pair Of 16-Bore Liège Silver-Mounted Flintlock Holster Pistols By Niquet le jeune à Liège, second quarter of the 18th Century With two-stage barrels each slightly belled at the muzzle and with silver spider fore-sight, octagonal breeches each with two maker's stamps (similar to Neue Støckel 823, 824) and six star-shaped stamps (lining missing throughout), turned girdles, tangs overlaid with engraved silver, signed rounded locks (minor pitting) each with moulded border, pans with water drains, figured moulded walnut full stocks (minor chips) carved in relief with strapwork and foliage behind the barrel tangs and on the fore-stocks, full silver mounts finely cast and chased in relief with grotesque masks and martial trophies, escutcheons en suite and each with coronet above, spurred pommels each with oval cap cast and chased with the profile bust of a Roman emperor, and original wooden ramrods 18¼in.
