A PAIR OF FINE LOUIS XIV STYLE ORMOLU-MOUNTED CUT BRASS AND TORTOISESHELL-INLAID EBONY 'BOULLE' COMMODES** AFTER THE MODEL BY ANDRÉ-CHARLES BOULLE BY BLAKE OF LONDON, CIRCA 1850 Each with a bevelled rectangular red and green-veined marble top, above a berried guilloche frieze and set to the front with a pair of ormolu-moulded premier partie -inlaid drawers, the upper drawer centred by a scrolled acanthus-cast escutcheon, the sides similarly decorated with scrolling foliage, the reverse with ormolu-moulded contre partie -inlaid panels, the angles headed with winged caryatids, on acanthus-sheathed cabriole legs tapering to hairy paw sabots and spiral-turned supports, the underside of one handle signed Blake , the mounts and both carcasses with various markings and stamps 34½ in. (87.6 cm.) high; 49 in. (124.5 cm.) wide; 25½ in. (64.8 cm.) deep
