A PAIR OF GEORGE III GILTWOOD TORCHERES POSSIBLY DESIGNED BY JAMES WYATT AND POSSIBLY BY MAYHEW & INCE, CIRCA 1770 Each with circular deep dished top within a moulded and fluted border with ribbon-carved guilloche frieze and three ram's heads, on outswept square legs with beading hung with husk swags, the legs entwined with a snake with pointed tail, the legs with Greek-key pattern terminals, joined by an incurved fluted stretcher, on compressed later bun feet, regilt, originally with a candelabrum fixed to the top One: 56¼ in. (142.5 cm.) high The other: 55¾ in. (141 cm.) high Both: 22 in. (56 cm.) diameter (2)
