A pair of George III silver-gilt cups and covers with later wine-cooler fittings The cups with mark of William Burwash and Richard Sibley London, 1806, the covers with mark of William Fountain London, 1807, the collars and liners, unmarked, modern Each of campana form, on slightly domed circular pedestal foot chased with a band of guilloche and a border of water-leaves, the body with a broad lower border of water-leaves, applied with a band of cherubs playing instruments amid grapevines and a guilloche rim above, the two entwined serpent handles with Medusa mask terminals, the sides each applied with a ribbon-tied laurel wreath, the initial 'A' surmounted by a duke's coronet engraved within the wreath, marked on footrim , the rising domed covers each with borders of guilloche and water-leaves, with detachable duke's coronet finial, marked on interior and finial , with plain cylindrical detachable liner and detachable circular collar, engraved with initial 'A' with duke's coronet above 19½in.
