A PAIR OF IMPORTANT REGENCY SILVER-GILT FOUR-LIGHT CANDELABRA MAKER'S MARK OF BENJAMIN SMITH LONDON, 1812 Each on three lion's jamb supports with bacchic masks between, the circular pedestal with rosette below, rising to dentilated and beaded stages supporting a tapering section on six human feet with chased acanthus at the shoulder and headed by three maiden heads with braided tresses, the central acanthus sockets supporting three stylized honeysuckle and scroll branches, the scrolls enclosing lion's heads and terminating in dolphins from whose mouths issue fluted low vase-form sockets with removable plain nozzles, the central acanthus standard with conforming socket, the stems engraved thrice with a baronet's coat-of-arms and crest within foliate scroll mantling, the sockets with the same crest, baronet's badge and garter motto, the nozzles with the crest, fully marked except for one, probably later, nozzle--25 1/2in.
