A pair of jewelled gold and enamel lorgnettes, third quarter of the 19th century and a quantity of buttons the front applied with a jewelled stylised flower within translucent dark blue enamel, the handle engraved with a hibiscus flower, the reverse with an oval cartouche with initials IE(?)FR within floral foliage on an engine-turned ground, later gold suspension loop, apparently unmarked, in a fitted velvet-lined tortoiseshell and leather case;a set of six silver-mounted blue enamel buttons with a silver basket pattern, Levi & Salaman, Birmingham, 1910; a set of six pale blue glass buttons with rose gold coloured mounts, in a fitted leather case; and a set of six gilt-metal mounted turquoise enamel buttons, four centred with a gold paillon fleur-de-lis, in fitted silk-lined case; a set of six dark-blue enamel buttons imitating lapis lazuli, in a fitted case stamped: Cole Bros Ltd/Sheffieldthe lorgnettes 10cm., 4 in high; the first set of buttons 2cm., 3/4 in. diameter42Condition reportgenerally in good order; the enamel on the lorgnettes possibly restored, very slight dent to rim on the right side on the reverse, scratches to tortoiseshell case; the buttons would benefit from professional cleaning; the fleur de lys buttons without their fittings, all others complete; the silver-mounted ones with some small traces of restoration to enamel, the silk lining partially stained The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale.
