A PAIR OF LOUIS XVI ORMOLU-MOUNTED TULIPWOOD, SYCAMORE AND PARQUETRY BIBLIOTHEQUES PROBABLY BY DENIS-LOUIS ANCELLET CIRCA 1780, ORIGINALLY PART OF A SERIES OF FITTED BOOKCASES AND ADAPTED IN ENGLAND IN THE SECOND QUARTER OF THE 19TH CENTURY Each with moulded architectural cornice above an anthemion mounted frieze and a panelled glazed door flanked by glazed panels enclosing shelves, with trellis parquetry to the sides and plinth base, one labelled P, one Q, one indistinctly stamped 'A.CELL...', partially remounted, originally with grilles and base sections, the plinths made slightly higher and deeper Q - 71½ in.
