MARK OF JACQUES-CHARLES MONGENOT PARIS, 1779 AND 1780
A PAIR OF LOUIS XVI SILVER THREE-LIGHT CANDLEABRA MARK OF JACQUES-CHARLES MONGENOT PARIS, 1779 AND 1780 Each on circular base fluted and with band of laurel and berries, the stem fluted and with beading and stiff leaves, the candlearms each applied with foliage and with spool shaped socket with an integral drip pan, with central vase-shaped finial with applied foliage and floral swags, with later plated nozzles, marked underneath the base, inside foot rim, underneath five drip pans and inside five sockets, the outside edge of the foot, the candlearm and the edge of five drip pans each marked with the décharge of Henry Clavel, the outside edge of the foot and the candlearm each marked with later French tax marks, one drip pan and socket and one finial replaced 16½ in. (42 cm.) high 126 oz. (3,906 gr.) (2)
