A PAIR OF VIENNA-STYLE TWO-HANDLED TAPERING OVIFORM VASES, COVERS AND SQUARE STANDS, the two gilt scroll handles suspending fixed laurel-wreaths, the lustrous dark-claret grounds painted by Wagner , one with a young woman entitled Dorothea , seated playing the lute, wearing a brown robe and with a rose tucked into her white décolletage, the other with a young girl entitled A Little Trespasser , holding a loose spray of white flowers taken from a basket over her arm, wearing a frilled white bonnet and pink dress, standing in woodland, the ground richly gilt with horizontal bands of dense foliate scrolls divided by gilt bands of flowerheads, beads, fret-pattern and ribbon, on socle stems and canted square plinths, the flat covers with pinecone finials (one cover with minute chip, slight wear to gilding), titles inscribed in black, blue beehive marks, pattern numbers 4075, late 19th Century 30in.
