A PARCEL-GILT BRONZE CENSER AND A BRONZE VASE MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY The sides of the censer cast in relief with a band of mythical beasts and birds rising from waves amid flames, below pairs of stylized kui -phoenix flanking a butterfly on each side, all divided by dragon-headed loop handles, the foot encircled by a band of ruyi meander, the base with gilt panel enclosing six characters reading Yunjian Hu Wenming zhi ; the incense tool vase of rouleau-form supported on a pedestal foot, cast in relief around the sides with lingzhi , orchids, bamboo and a garden rock, the neck decorated with a foliate scroll, all between key-fret bands encircling the mouth and footrims, the base incised with four characters in archaic script reading Hu Wenming zhi 3 1/8 in. and 4 in. (8 cm. and 10.2 cm.) high (2)
