A PARIS BACCHUS JUG AND WARMING STAND, the figure seated on the back of a recumbent goat, wearing white-spotted pale-blue drapery billowing away from his back to form the handle, the spout formed as a ewer from which he is pouring, his head festooned with fruiting vine and with a leaf-moulded shell hat as the cover, the goat with fruit at its feet, on a gilt scroll-moulded grassy base with a pierced back to fit the burner (restoration to hat, vine, right arm, ewer and associated areas of drapery and body and to goat's ear, wear to gilding, slight flaking to enamels), incised JD and 10, circa 1850-1860 13¼in. (33.5cm.) high
