A Pipe Major's Uniform of the Royal Irish Rangers A good and extensive No. 1 Dress uniform as follows: dark green serge jacket, edged with white Russia braid, seven loops of black mohair braid, edged with white Russia, on each side in front, the right sleeve bearing an inverted four-bar chevron of silver Shamrock lace on rifle-green backing beneath a fine and massive Bagpipe badge within Shamrock wreath, all in silver embroidery, blue collar and cuffs, the collar bearing AA badges of the Castle beneath INNISKILLING scroll, AA buttons, with scalloped edges, bearing crowned Harp between Shamrock sprays, blue cloth shoulder-straps, edged with white braid, three loops of white Russia braid on each cuff; a saffron kilt, bearing the badges of the three antecedent regiments on dark green Shamrock-shaped backing; a wide black plastic waistbelt with oblong chromed clasp mounted with a cap-badge in white metal; black plastic sword-slings and sporran, the latter also mounted with a cap-badge; crimson worsted shoulder-sash; a green caubeen by COMPTON WEBB , with AA badge and small green hackle; a pair of dark-green hose; a pair of black plastic lace-covers for brogues, each with an AA buckle; and a good knee-length dark-green cape, the collar edged with silver lace.
