A polychrome terracotta figure of a crouching Sphinx 4th-3rd Century B.C., from Magna Graecia Wearing a kalathos studded with five medallions, a painted red fine net collar with acanthus scroll decoration between her legs, her outstretched volute wings decorated with green and red lines, a hole inserted into the headdress and circular base, traces of pink, white, green and dark red pigment, (both wings repaired) 11¼in. (28.5cm.) high
