A Portuguese or Portuguese-Colonial silver-gilt dish Unmarked, early 17th century Octagonal and with pierced stylised foliage rim, the border chased with scrolling fruits and foliage and rabbits, the centre with scrolls and foliage and raised central boss chased with a stork eating a flower, the reverse later engraved with the initial S with Royal Duke's crown above 13in. (33cm.) long 21oz. (666gr.) The initial is for H.R.H. Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex K.G. (1773-1843), 6th son of King George III.
