Martin, Honourable Artillery Company, late Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant, Grenadier Guards The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, M.B.E. (Military) Member’s 2nd type breast badge, silver; Defence and War Medals 1939-45; Coronation 1937 (2605780 R.Q.M.S. V. Martin 3. G.G.) engraved naming; Army L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., 1st issue, Regular Army (2605780 W.O. Cl. II. V. H. S. Martin. G. Gds.); Efficiency Medal, G.VI.R., 1st issue, Territorial, with Second Award Bar (Capt. Q.M. V. H. S. Martin. H.A.C.) on Honourable Artillery Company riband, mounted as originally worn, very fine (6) £360-£400 Footnote M.B.E. London Gazette 9 June 1949. Vernon Harry Scott Martin initially served as a Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant with the 3rd Battalion, Grenadier Guards. He was subsequently commissioned into the Honourable Artillery Company, and advanced to Captain Quarter Master in November 1947. Martin was promoted Major Quarter Master in March 1949.
