A QAJAR PRAYERBOOK COPIED FOR AQA MIR HUSAYN NAQQASH, QAJAR IRAN, DATED AH 124(0)/1824-25 AD Arabic and Persian manuscript on paper, beginning with a selection of suras, followed by prayers for the days of the week, a shama'il-nama, a description of the Prophet Muhammad and numerous prayers and talismans on the authority of the Shi'ite imams for the sighting of the new moon, 135ff. each folio with 10ll. of elegant black and red naskh within gold clouds, text panels outlined in gold and polychrome, catchwords, headings in gold thuluth within illuminated cartouches, illuminated opening bifolio, last chapter with various talismanic tables and columns in gold and polychrome, colophon with the name of the patron and the date, in contemporaneous yellow velvet and red morocco Qajar binding, red morocco doublures Text panel 6 x 3 1/8in.
