A rare and good Dutch Louis XVI ebonized and kingswood marquetry inlaid musical table clock, circa 1780 26.5-cm engraved brass dial signed below the silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals JOHs. USWALD AMSTELDAM, foliate pierced hands, season spandrels and apertures for date and moonphase in the arch below the silvered subsidiary for tune selection, levers for strike/silent and play/not play, substantial three train fusee movement with eight ring turned knopped pillars, verge escapement and rack Dutch half hour striking on two alternating bells, trip repeating musical mechanism with a 25-cm cylinder playing one of six tunes with 25 hammers on 14 bells, kingswood veneered case with ebonized borders, concave sided top with marquetry inlay surmounted by five carved finials, moulded cornice over canted corners with gilt brass capped pilasters, front door with foliate pierced top spandrels and break arch glazed panel, gilt handles over the glazed sides, moulded plinth with chequered banding raised on bracket feet height 83cm
