A rare Charles I tentatively ascribed South Eastern provincial seal-top spoon, of good gauge with a crudely chased baluster terminal, initialled "H.W 1631 M.H, stamped on the back of the stem with a makers mark D and perhaps a variation of a makers mark within large punch, this second mark repeated in the bowl, possibly by William Dobson (Jnr), Lewes circa 1631 - 16.75cm long, 1.25oz. Literature: Jackson's Revised pp.274 for an illustration of the first makers mark, pp.461 for a similar makers mark, noted interestingly enough on a York seal-top spoon circa 1623 and pp.529 for all the marks.
