Lawrence engraved at muzzle and breech, German-silver fore-sight and simple rear sight, profusely engraved action with scrollwork, the right side with panel scene of a dog; hammer, trigger plate and lever engraved en suite, varnished walnut fore-end with pewter fore-end tip, the varnished walnut stock with silver oval plaque inset into left side and inscribed To/Alexander Walton/From/William Ferriday/1854 , patchbox engraved with scrolls and panel scene of a seated dog, buttplate engraved en suite 25½ inch (64.6cm.) barrel Barrel rebrowned with pitting evident, action with dark brown patina and some pitting, refinished wood.
