The Property of a Lady 女士藏品 A rare gilt-bronze inscribed figure of Lha Jegar Tönpa Tibet, 17th century Seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus pedestal, the figure wearing voluminous patchwork robes cascading in numerous pleats, his left hand resting on his legs with the palm facing upward, his right hand over his right leg touching the lotus throne in bhumisparsa mudra, Tibetan inscription on the front of the base. 10.5cm (4 1/8in) high. Fußnoten 十七世紀 銅鎏金上師像 Provenance: a European private collection 來源:歐洲私人收藏 The front is inscribed: 'rje 'gar na mo' (གར་ན་མོ) which may be translated as 'Worship to Lord Gar'. The person referred to is most likely Lha Jegar Tönpa (lha rje 'gar ston pa), active as an Anuyoga teacher in the 12th century and related to the early Nyingma school.
