A RARE GROUP OF ORDERS AND DECORATIONS TO LIEUTENANT (LATER CAPTAIN) SAMUEL EDWARD COOK R.N., (WIDDRINGTON) (1787-1856) The first comprising: Portugal, The Military Order of the Tower and sword, Knights's breast badge in gold, diamonds and enamels, 56mm x 52mm the gold seven pointed star pave-set with old-brilliant-cut diamonds with central raised portrait of the Prince Regent of Portugal within motto in blue enamel, Joa'o D.G. Reg. de Port. Do Brazil, with pave diamond tower surmount, the reverse with central wreath and sword in green and blue enamel within blue enamel motto Valor E Lealdade, with engraved detail, to brilliant-cut diamond brooch suspension a blue ribband some damage to enamel, in velvet case of issue; together with associated miniature of the Order, 32mm x 29mm in gold and enamels with blue ribbon and gold buckle fitting, in case of issue; and associated small breast star of the Order in silver with central gold and enamel device and motto, the reverse plain, brooch fitting; the second, Dom João VI's Gold Medal, H.M.S. Windsor Castle, Second Class, 43mm x 30mm the oval cartouche with raised portrait of the Prince Regent within old-brilliant-cut diamond surround and crossed anchor motifs to a crown surmount, the reverse engraved Lieut. S. E. Cook 2, within the legend Windsor Castle , suspended from a gold suspension bar and original red and dark blue ribbon, EF (4)
