A RARE JUN 'NUMBER NINE' TRIPOD NARCISSUS BOWL YUAN/MING DYNASTY, 14TH CENTURY The strongly potted shallow bowl is raised on three crisply carved ruyi -shaped feet, decorated below the lipped rim and around the base with drum-nail bosses, and covered in a thick glaze of opalescent milky-blue colour suffused with pale lavender thinning to an olive-green on the raised areas. The base is stamped with the Chinese numeral, jiu , 'Nine', and covered under a greenish-brown glaze, with a ring of spur marks near the edge. 6 3/8 in. (16.3 cm.) diam.
